This is a picture of Dan and Dakota taken Thanksgiving Day 2008. Dakota is the newest member of our family. Dan's transition to Tennessee did not go as smoothly as Dana's and he needed a "friend". I found Dakota on Craigslist for $25 while searching for furniture in August. He is supposed to be a full blooded black labrador retriever. He is now 5 months old and approaching 60 pounds. He is a beautiful dog but he is all puppy. Today, he is in BIG trouble.Dana was feeding the rabbit, Hershey, and her favorite chicken, Peeps, who made the move from Missouri with us. The wind blew the door to the pen open and Peeps ran out. Who should be waiting? Dakota. He took off after Peeps and it was a free-for-all. Dana was screaming and running after her chicken. Dan was diving for his dog. Denny, hearing the noise, ran out of the garage to join the fray. Dakota had the chicken in his mouth before Dan caught him. Denny removed Peeps from the jaws of black death. Luckily, Peeps was not hurt. What was I doing, you ask? Trying to see how fast I could drink my wine!
So far, Dakota has chewed up his dog dishes, dug up our front yard looking for moles, left chew marks on the logs of our wood home, ripped a hole in Dana's blue jeans while trying to drag her around like a chew toy, and gotten kicked out of the Humane Society while trying to get microchipped because he was exciting the other 100 dogs waiting their turn. Our yard looks like an archeology dig because we have so many huge bones lying around. I'm sure someday we will look back and laugh about this. Meanwhile, I need to go buy another bottle of wine!

That was too funny! That dog sounds like a lot of work to me! Poor little ole Peeps! Reminds me of old Sylvester and Tweety with the Peep in his mouth!
